A Perfect Match
At the end of the day, vacation surfers want what we want (what, we think, everyone wants).
More time to do the things we love.
Vacation Surfers had a dream and a vision, to spend as much of the year as possible on vacations and catching waves.
And what better way to accomplish exactly that than following the 3MM lifestyle?
Why do any of the things we teach here? Why make money in the stock market?
Freedom.
Here, we want that same freedom, and to get it, we have a three-part plan:
Part 1: Business Ownership
We believe ownership is the secret to freeing your time and taking control of your life.
We start with a simple, low-overhead business, home-based business; one that can be maintained by just one person with very little effort. We’ll show you how in our ultimate home-based business guide.
Leslie and I did this by building an FBA storefront on Amazon. We started it with a $50 gift card and can run the whole thing in just a few hours per year.

How is that possible?
Part 2: Productivity
We do things better than anyone:
- We find the best business tools that are designed to reduce our workload and…
- We use best-in-the-world productivity practices to send our efficiency into orbit.
Everything that our business requires of us is categorized, streamlined, added to checklists, and handed off to SaaS, AI, or, in rare cases, actually done by us.
And that tiny amount that is left for us to do? We apply the best productivity systems anywhere to get them done as fast as possible. It’s all in our ultimate productivity guide.
That’s how we manage an online store in just a few hours per year. We don’t handle inventory, Amazon does. We don’t transport boxes, UPS picks them up at our front door.
We build our audience with the best email marketing tools and the best social media management software you can find.
These companies spend millions of dollars to save you time. That’s their number one function.
Who are we to argue?
And when we do have to work (like me writing this post right now) we make sure it’s work we only have to do once.
Here’s a great example: You can sign up with an online course creation platform. They will teach you everything you need to know to start selling courses. When you make money, they make money.
It’s a win-win.
But, here’s the magic:
You only need to make the course once.
Then you sell it a million times.
We only work once.
Part 3: Invest
Alright, so we’re starting a business. We’re using a world-class productivity system.
The goal is to make life as easy as possible.
To have as much free time as possible.
And just doing those first two would get us there.
But why not supercharge the whole deal?
Leslie and I were doing just fine with our business. But then I decided to read every Berkshire Hathaway shareholder letter I could get my hands on.
Now, I’ve always liked Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger. But this was a new level of obsession.
The thing is: it changed my life.
When you read them all, you realize that everyone is wrong about Buffet and his investing style.
He has a very simple system that anyone can use. I mean, the guy’s still a genius, but his genius isn’t required to have awesome results.
So we bundled up everything we learned from those letters (everything that can apply to a small home-based business anyway) and we created a ridiculously thorough page on investing.
It will dispel the myths, and steer you toward the right path.
At the end of it all, you’ll know how to create your own small business Berkshire.
And eventually, the earnings from your investments alone will cover your cost of living. Then you can go anywhere, and do anything.
Now that’s Vacation Surfing.
Where’s That Get Us?
Here’s what the end product will look like:
You own a business. You’ve got your productivity and outsourcing in place so you only work a few days out of the year.
Your investments earn enough to cover your living expenses.
Your business earns enough to pay for plane tickets and hotel rooms and whatever else you want to do.
You’ve basically flipped the script: Most people work all year and vacation for a week,
You work for a week and vacation for a year.
